Enough of causeway bay lah (sorry for the Malayanglish).
Upon this once-every-16-blue-moons occasion during which david actually accompanied a friend to shopping, we were chit-chatting about "good taste," as opposed to "MK"—Mongkok, Hong Kong's more common fashion ecology.
So the story went, we strolled past this cigar shop...
where the sales lady calmly waited for business reading a magazine in a better shawl—and dress and hairdo, and shoes—than anything we saw on the street level.
The topic of discussion promptly screeched to a close, and we quietly moved on.

Causeway Bay again.....

At the Multi-faith Prayer Gathering for Peace in Burma, 2007/10/6, outside the Hong Kong City Hall (in response to the Global Day of Action for Burma):
Metta ("compassion and loving kindness" in Pali, the Indian dialect with which the Buddha is believed to have taught) is what the Burmese monks advocate,
and is probably what was going through their minds when they were whacked by soldiers with rifle-butts, to remind themselves to never return the violence.
Download a heavenly rendition of Metta by Ms. Imee Ooi, Malaysia. (mp3)
